About Us

Julie Ryan Dancers, is a school of theatrical dance serving the Gippsland Region. The school was established in 1971 by the Julie Ryan and has been operating for over 40 years and as of 2016 is now under the direction of Julie's daughter Melanie Currie..

Classes range from tiny tots for three-year olds, Pre-Professional Ballet and casual adult classes. We strive to offer a well rounded theatrical program. JRD is known for its ability to continually produce original choreography for performance uniquely tailored to young dancers.

Classical Ballet, ATOD Exams, Technique, Conditioning, Tiny Tots, Giggly Wigglies, Contemporary, Modern Jazz, Hip Hop/Funk, Tap, Singing, Pilates, Adult Jazz, Competitions, Workshops, Annual Christmas Concerts and more!

We offer examination classes through the ATOD Syllabai in Classical and Tap.

Julie Ryan Dancers have won many troupe and solo/duo aggregates throughout the years and have competed throughout Melbourne and intersate (NSW, SA & Tasmania). Our students have gone on to win the prestigious "Courier Classical Cup" at Royal South Street and the Classical Championship at Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing. JRD is known for its ability to continually produce original choreography for performance uniquely tailored to young dancers.

JRD have six fully equipped studios located in Traralgon and Moe/Newborough which are run by our highly qualified and dedicated team. We provide a very caring and nurturing environment where it is fun to learn.

Our nurturing environment has allowed many of our students to go on and dance professionally, this is testimony to our successful teaching methods and training.

Many past and present students have achieved tremendous success, from dancing with the Bavarian State Ballet and Australian Ballet Company to performing in musicals such as “High School Musical” and “We Will Rock You”. JRD is the longest running school in Gippsland, with a well established and respected reputation.

JRD welcomes students of all ages whether they are interested in dance as a career, or for fun and exercise. At JRD we believe the most important aspect is the love and enjoyment of dance and new students are always welcome and are made to feel at home.
